| Chinese sound artist GUOFEI, who has been active in the international dub techno and ambient music field under the pseudonym OSCPLLEX, has brought a new experimental ambient music / drone album to Silentes. "Paraconscious" is a deep conscious auditory journey. These sound concepts originate from atmospheric moments that always prolong time: those atmospheres make time seem to slow down, and then squeeze out more and more memories, forming parallel mirror-like silent spaces above consciousness, finally becoming static and constantly looping. A large amount of field recording sound material in this album comes from Italy. The soundscape materials were recorded by GUOFEI during the 60th Venice Biennale, and were spectrally processed and synthesised in a recording studio in Shanghai. Some were recorded at midnight on the island of San Servolo in Venice, where the unique history of the island provides a wonderful and inexplicable rich atmosphere, while others were recorded on the mountains or by the river in Milan and Florence, using an almost humid and continuous atmosphere to connect memories and mirror experiences. The narrative of the album begins with the layers of thin mist crossing the sea surface, the continuous thin drone sound, and the light and shadow refracted by the damp mist slowly entering the mirror space of consciousness. Frequency, memory and perception are compressed, folded, and unfolded in sequence, passing through each stream of memory and consciousness. The slow and damp melody is constructed under the constantly changing pad and sound texture. We enter the unfamiliar self through reflection, attempting to create new consciousness to re-establish cognition. Consciousness, time, memories, and illusion often intertwine crazily at this moment, unrecognisable.
